Chip Reese's son found dead

2009-04-08 12:29:01

The son of poker legend David 'Chip' Reese has been found dead from an apparent overdose.

Phil Hellmuth let the poker community know of the 20-year-old's passing on Twitter and the news was quickly confirmed by a number of other well-known poker players.

Doyle Brunson, a close friend of Reese's, wrote in his blog that he was told of Casey Reese's death by his nephew.

He said that he believes Casey was discovered in his apartment having overdosed on prescription drugs.

"My deepest condolences to the Reese family," Brunson said. "I feel like I've let Chip down but I don't know what I could have done to help Casey."

The Texas Dolly claimed it had only been a few days since he saw Casey, but felt that "he looked great".

He stated that he "will always remember" how close Casey was to his father, who passed away in December 2007.
