Trincher takes down WPT Foxwoods

Vadim Trincher picked up the first major title of his card playing career last night with victory in the World Poker Tour (WPT) Foxwoods Poker Classic.
The New Jersey competitor defeated Amnon Filippi heads-up to seize the crown, with the final hand of the tournament seeing Trincher's king-high spade flush beat his opponent's two-pair, the official WPT website reports.
Filippi would have gone joint top of the WPT player of the year rankings had he managed to win the competition, but there is still one event left on the Tour in which he can overhaul current leader John Phan.
Trincher received $731,079 for his triumph, while Filippi picked up $409,405.
Lenny Cortellino was given $214,449 for third place, while the fourth and fifth finishers, Matthew Casterella and Alex Perelberg, earned $138,905 and $106,007 respectively.
The WPT World Championship will get underway at the Bellagio in Las Vegas on April 18th.
