WPT Championship underway in Las Vegas

The World Poker Tour (WPT) Championship got underway in Las Vegas this weekend, attracting a total of 337 entrants.
Vadim Trincher was chip leader by the end of play on the first day at the Bellagio, with his count of 309,725 putting him more than 18,000 ahead of second-placed Johnny Chan.
Trincher had been among the 126 entering the first day-one flight, which produced the top three overall.
Danny Fuhs emerged the strongest of the 211 that turned up on day 1b, with his count of 269,900 placing him in fourth overall behind Burt Boutin.
High starting stacks meant few players busted during the first five levels of play, but those who did included Allen Cunningham, Clonie Gowen and Lyle Berman.
This year's WPT Championship winner is set to take home just over $2.1 million, down from the more than $3.3 million that David Chiu - who is currently 91st out of the 301 remaining contestants - netted last year.
