Galic remains in control in San Remo

2009-04-22 16:53:15

Croatian sensation Dragan Galic has continued his dominance on day 3 of the European Poker Tour event in San Remo, Italy.

Having taking the chip lead at the end of the two day 1 flights, Galic stretched his lead on day 2 and has now extended it even further.

With a chip count of 1,386,000, his nearest rival - Stephen Silverman - is more than 500,000 adrift.

The field has now been trimmed to just 32, with day 3 having begun with 124 of the European record 1,178 original entrants remaining.

Those still in the hunt for the €1.5 million ($1.9 million) prize include David Eldar and Constant Rijkanberg - the only other players currently having more than 800,000 chips.

Galic's highest-placed finish to date came at the 2009 Casino Austria Poker Tour Open in Bregenz, where he came third in the pot-limit Omaha event, in addition to a fourth-place finish in no-limit hold 'em.
