Final table set at EPT San Remo

2009-04-23 15:09:58

The final table at the European Poker Tour (EPT) event in San Remo, Italy has been set, with eight players remaining in the running for the €1.5 million ($1.95 million) top prize.

Croatian Dragan Galic held the lead at the end of each day's play and that continued on day 4, as he amassed more than three million chips.

A total of 1,178 entrants took to the felt earlier in the week and that was cut to 32 by the fourth day of play.

And when the cards are dealt at the final table all eyes will be on Galic, who is the first player in EPT history to have held the lead overnight on every day of a tournament.

He leads second-placed Gustav Sundell by more 470,000 chips, while William Reynolds is currently in third place with a count of just over 530,000.

The rest of the field - Constant Rijkenberg, Alexander Fitzgerald, Danilo D'Ettoris, Kalle Niemi and Ovi Balaj - all have less than one million chips each.

Last year's EPT San Remo event saw Jason Mercier take down a first prize of €869,000.
