A charity event taking place next month is expected to be Scotland's largest ever poker tournament, it has been announced.
Up to 2,000 runners could participate in the Paddy Power Charity Poker Open, which begins at the Normandy Hotel in Renfrew on May 16th.
The Irish bookmaker is offering prizes including a trip to Dublin for the 2010 Irish Open, as well holidays to Las Vegas.
Proceeds from the £12 ($17.52) buy-in event will go to the Erskine Hospital, which provides care for former services personnel.
A Paddy Power spokesperson remarked: "We are delighted to sponsor this tournament and look forward to not only hosting Scotland's biggest ever poker event but also to raising much needed funds for this incredibly worthwhile organization."
Meanwhile, a competition aimed at raising money for humanitarian efforts in Darfur is to be held in Monte Carlo tonight (Monday April 27th), ahead of the European Poker Tour Grand Final.
