Pieter de Korver has taken down the European Poker Tour (EPT) Grand Final, becoming the second Dutchman to take the title in its five years of existence.
He pocketed 2.3 million ($3.1 million) for the feat, having come through a field of 935 players in Monte Carlo.
Having come back from a position of having just two big blinds, de Korver faced American Matthew Woodward in heads-up play for just over an hour.
Woodward's second place finish earned him 1.3 million, while Mikhail Tulchinskiy took home 800,000 for coming third.
The total prize pool generated by the 10,000 buy-in event was 9.35 million - making it the richest poker tournament to have been held outside Las Vegas.
Glen Chorny was the winner of last year's EPT Grand Final at the Monte Carlo Bay Resort and Hotel - which saw 842 participants - and he pocketed 2 million in the process.
