WPT plans visit to Slovakia

2009-05-07 16:36:53

Slovakia is the latest country to be added to the list of stops for the World Poker Tour (WPT).

The expansion takes the total number of European venues to five, with Bratislava set to host a tournament beginning on August 31st and running until September 5th.

It will have a buy-in of €4,000 ($5,376) and WPT founder, president and chief executive Steve Lipscomb remarked: "Our goal is to bring value to our partners and WPT Europe shareholders as we expand our global footprint."

The other stops on the tour are Barcelona, Cyprus, Marrakech and Venice - with the latter currently hosting a tournament.

Day 1a of the event has been completed, with a total of 83 out of 210 runners making it through to day 2.

Joshua Field was chip leader by the end of the first flight, with a WPT bracelet and a place in next year's WPT Championship - worth €25,500 - on the line.
