Poker players' lives detailed in new book

2009-05-18 15:22:13

A new book has been launched, detailing the lives of some of poker's biggest names.

Phil Hellmuth - the Poker Brat - come up with the idea for the project and Deal Me In has now been written by Stephen John and Marvin Karlins.

Hellmuth explained that the publication takes readers "behind the scenes into the early lives of poker's biggest names", with the aim of providing insight into poker strategy by understanding the players.

"[It covers] their humble beginnings, the obstacles they overcame, the demons they faced and ultimately the success they enjoyed," he said.

Among those contributing to Deal Me In are Hellmuth himself, Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, David 'Devilfish' Ulliott and Phil Ivey.

The book is intended to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Hellmuth's first World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event victory.

He and Ivey are two of the four players that have won three WSOP bracelets in a single year.
