WSOP events to be streamed online

2009-05-22 16:20:12

Poker enthusiasts are being offered the chance to view many of the World Series of Poker's (WSOP) tournaments online.

It has been confirmed that broadcaster ESPN will be streaming some of the events live from Las Vegas through its website, as will Bluff Magazine.

A total of 24 final tables can be watched, with ESPN's schedule including the $50,000 HORSE championship.

Commenting on the move, WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack said he is "proud" that a worldwide audience will be able to watch the events live.

"This online initiative will complement our spectacular television package on ESPN and deliver even more of this year's milestone WSOP to fans who want the most immediate coverage possible," he added.

Other new developments at the 40th WSOP will include the first tournament to be played in a team-based format at the event.

Hosted by Dream Team Poker, it will see players compete in teams of three as well as on an individual level.
