Hellmuth 'favorite to win WSOP invitational'

2009-05-27 16:12:58

Phil Hellmuth has been tipped as the most likely player to emerge triumphant at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Champions Invitational.

The 11-time WSOP bracelet winner fetches odds of nine to one to win the tournament, which only past main event winners are eligible to enter, reports Poker News Daily.

Nobody has a stronger record than Hellmuth at the WSOP, having cashed over 60 times and won more bracelets than anyone else.

Other gamers who are tipped to do well in the competition are Australian pro Joe Hachem, Prince of Poker Scotty Nguyen, reigning champion Peter Eastgate and ten-time bracelet winner Doyle Brunson.

Whoever is the last one left at the felt in the Champions Invitational will claim the Binion Cup along with a brand new car.

Those who fancy taking a chance can get 65/1 odds on 1994 champion Russ Hamilton claiming the title.

He picked up $1 million in prize money when he defeated Hugh Vincent in heads-up play 15 years ago.
