James Partridge wins £69k at Baltic Poker Festival

2009-11-02 17:29:30

Briton James Partridge has won the €76,750 (£69,300) first prize at the Baltic Poker Festival.

The 24-year-old made his way through the 307-strong field to hit the final table, where he dramatically went heads up against close friend and fellow Brit James Keys.

Partridge, who claimed he only entered the tournament after being persuaded by his friend, has now won himself a place at the Caribbean Adventure competition in the Bahamas, which will run from January 4th-14th 2010.

Having made it down to the final two, Partridge, from Teign Valley in Devon, was tasked with overturning his friend's two-to-one chip advantage.

The poker was frantic and fast-paced with the pair going all-in at every opportunity, until Partridge hit a flush.

Keys needed help at the river to turn his two pairs into a full house but none was forthcoming, although the second place cash pot of €48,505 is likely to have eased the pain of losing to a friend.
