WSOP Circuit stop at Lake Tahoe gets underway

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit stop at Harvey's Lake Tahoe got underway yesterday (November 5th 2009) with the $300 no-limit hold'em event.

It will be the first of 18 events at the Nevada casino, most of which have a buy-in of $300.

However, there will be a $500 no-limit hold'em tournament and a range of different poker variants for those who want to try their hand at games other than hold'em.

Players will be able to compete in pot-limit Omaha, Omaha eight-or-better, HORSE, pot-limit hold'em/Omaha and limit crazy pineapple eight-or-better will all be on offer.

The main event will get underway on November 15th 2009 and the buy-in for this will be $5,000.

Last year, the main event was won by Michael Binger, who pocketed $181,379 in prize money when he defeated $112,675 in the heads-up.

The tournament attracted 132 gamers to create a total prize pool of $640,000, which was distributed to the top 18.
