Brunson: Joan Rivers don't need us and we don't need Joan Rivers

2009-11-12 17:02:28

The Godfather of Poker showed in a radio interview that he has earned his place as one of the most revered stars in the game.

Doyle Brunson, 76, appeared on SportsTalk 790 AM The Ticket to promote his book after Joan Rivers went into yet another rant at the poker community, reports Bluff magazine.

The reality television star has held a notorious grudge against the game after tangling with poker-queen Annie Duke on The Celebrity Apprentice.

After she was read a quote about her in which Brunson quipped that if you gave Joan Rivers a penny for intelligence you would get a refund, Rivers went into a rant about the ten-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner, branding him "a moron" and asking "who the hell is he?".

When he was played the clip on air, in which she tells him to "go die under a deck of cards", Brunson responded: "That'll be a pretty good place to go."

He added that Rivers had "no call" to berate the whole poker world after rowing with Duke and concluded by saying: "Joan Rivers don't need us and we don't need Joan Rivers, so good luck to her."
