Jeffrey Pollack has stepped down from his position as the commissioner of the World Series of Poker (WSOP).
He told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that since taking up the post in 2006, he has had a "very good run" and that he is proud of the advances made by the tournament and poker in general during this time.
"I came into this role with a certain set of objectives, and now there's a sense of accomplishment of how the WSOP has expanded," he commented.
Among the changes he has been involved in are the creation of the highly popular $50,000 HORSE event and the introduction of the delay in the final table of the main event.
Since he took over, the number of people participating in the WSOP has risen each year.
The announcement comes just one week after the final table of the WSOP main event saw the youngest-ever champion Joe Cada claim the first prize of more than $8.5 million.
