Matt Glantz: I focus better in high stakes tournaments

2009-11-30 17:06:47

Poker star Matt Glantz has claimed that taking part in high stakes tournaments makes it easier for him to focus.

In an interview with Card Player magazine's Ryan Lucchesi he explained that these events are "much more meaningful" for him.

"If I'm in a small buy-in event, I might be more interested in what is going on in the cash games," he stated.

As a result he prefers to compete in tournaments where the buy-ins are $25,000, $40,000 or $50,000, he said.

Glantz has notched up a number of impressive performances so far this year, including a win at the London leg of the European Poker Tour where he triumphed in the high-roller event.

He banked $882,736 in prize money in the competition, taking his total live tournament winnings for the year up to more than $1.1 million.

Overall the gamer has banked about $2.98 million in major live tournaments over the course of his career.
