Krost wins Aussie Millions main event

2010-02-01 15:23:20

Tyron Krost has been crowned as the Aussie Millions 2010 champion after beating final table competition from internet professional Annette Obrestad and chip leader Sorel Mizzi.

Australian Krost's victory ensured the title stayed in the country, following Stewart Scott's victory in 2009.

Commenting on his AU$2 million ($1.8 million) triumph, he said: "It just hasn't sunk in at all how much money I have just won.

"I cashed at the World Series in 2008 but nothing like this."

According to the card sharp, he spent AU$700 trying to qualify for the event and has managed to turn it into a profit "beyond [his] wildest dreams".

After coming out on top in crucial coin-flip hands with Betfair pro Mizzi and Obrestad, Krost found himself heads-up with Frederik Jensen.

The final pot saw the 23-year-old Krost holding king-nine to Jensen's king-six, with a cowboy on the flop.

No help from the remainder of the board meant the Dane had to be content with his AU$1.1 million second-place prize.
