Largest televised poker pot record broken

2010-02-01 15:18:30

The biggest recorded pot record for a televised poker contest has been broken on the Full Tilt Poker Million Dollar Cash Game.

Tom "durrrr" Dwan was the winner of a hand that saw him take down $1,108,500, with Phil Ivey being the unlucky opponent, Bluff Europe magazine reports.

The internet phenom held seven-six suited in hearts, while the Tiger Woods of Poker - who recently topped the all-time money list - defended his blinds with ace-two unsuited.

Pre-flop action saw the pot build to $33,500, with the third player at the game, Patrik Antonius, deciding to fold.

The first three cards were Jc-3d-5c, leaving both players gut-shot straight draw possibilities. Ivey raised $35,000 and Dwan called, with a four landing on the turn.

A raise, reraise and subsequent all-ins saw both men in the pot for all their money.

Ivey was drawing dead to durrrr's nut straight, meaning a jack on the river made no difference and leaving Dwan to mop up the spoils.
