Daniel Negreanu has criticised Phil Hellmuth's play during the 2009 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Caesar's Cup event.
Writing for his Full Contact Poker blog, Negreanu stated that while the tournament was so fast paced that everyone made mistakes, two of Hellmuth's plays in particular were "just really bad".
According to Kid Poker, the two hands in question involved back-to-back king-jacks, with the second instance being "shocking".
The card sharp noted that the Poker Brat - who first rose to fame by winning the 1989 WSOP main event - folded to a button raise with the two cards, despite it costing him 6,000 in chips in an quick-moving blind format.
"We saw the amateur re-raise with K-10 out of position earlier in the match, so there is no reason to think he couldn't have K-10 again," he remarked, referring to the raiser's possible hands.
Professionals such as Andy Bloch and Chris Ferguson would not have made such an elementary mistake, Negreanu added.
