Canadian poker channel set for launch

HeadsUp Entertainment International is to begin broadcasting a new online poker television network from March 5th 2010.
Featuring Canadian programs that have been produced by the firm over the past three years, the offering will be aimed at both people within the country and abroad.
According to HeadsUp Entertainment, which is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, there are currently around 3.5 million poker players in Canada and it is the second largest online revenue generating country around the globe in terms of the card game.
President and chief executive officer of the firm Kelly Kellner said the resource will "give players from across the country a forum and showcase as we strive to build new poker superstars".
Once launched, the network will show up to 20 hours of footage gained from major tournaments in Canada, with Phil Hellmuth, Gavin Smith, Huck Seed, Joe Hachem, Jennifer Tilly and Phil Laak all recorded.
