A Kansas-based casino with an unusual set-up is "working out well", according to a senior employee.
Boot Hill Casino & Resort is state-owned from the slot machines down to the chips, the Wall Street Journal reports, meaning that general manager Mike Tamburelli must ensure all processes of the businesses are run by officials.
"It's different," Mr. Tamburelli said. "They're interested in making as much money as they can, which is good. That's what we're interested in, too."
The news provider noted that the gambling establishment is also welcomed by locals because it provides 280 jobs on top of entertainment.
Estimates suggest that the venue could generate approximately $40 million annually, with the state taking 27 per cent of this - compared with 50 per cent in places such as Pennsylvania.
Last month, the Associated Press reported that two bills aimed at expanding the gambling industry in Kansas had reached the House and Senate.
