The World Poker Tour (WPT) is about to enter television history by becoming one of the longest-running shows in the US.
Once it wraps up filming for its eighth season in April at the WPT World Championship in Las Vegas, it will reach 178 episodes, beating competition from other prolific TV programmes including LA Law (171) and Magnum PI (162).
However, it will need to complete another series to ensure it takes its place ahead of Seinfeld and I Love Lucy, which both ran for 179 episodes, while the Golden Girls reached 180.
Commenting on the honour, executive vice-president of programming and production at Fox Sports George Greenberg said: "WPT's production team is no stranger to making history - their show propelled the game into the thriving global industry it is today."
Doyle Brunson recently announced that he will be dropping out of an upcoming WPT event due to needing recovery time from teeth and gum surgery.
