Brouwer last Hawk out in charity poker event

2010-02-12 17:41:35

Chicago Hawks ice hockey player Troy Brouwer was the last man remaining in a recent charity poker event.

The tournament was held at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana and saw over 300 fans sit at the table alongside their sports heroes, ESPN reports.

Money from the game went to fight autism and Brouwer claimed he is looking forward to doing even better next time.

Commenting on his performance, the 24-year-old stated that he has been lucky in similar competitions between him and his teammates.

"I won the bowling and last year I won the curling and now the poker," he remarked. "I think ping pong is next."

Followers of hockey who managed to knock out a Hawks player received the shirt of their back as a trophy to take home.

Over $300,000 was recently raised by Calgary Flames athletes and sporting enthusiasts in a poker tournament, with the entry fee set at $650.
