Patrik Antonius: I don't like big tournaments

2010-02-16 07:25:34

Patrik Antonius has admitted that he has no desire to play in large poker tournaments and will not be looking to take part in many this year.

The Finnish professional said in an interview with Card Player that while he is a fan of high-stakes cash games, he often avoids big events.

"I have no motivation to play for four or five straight days in tournaments," he remarked, although the pro has earned over $2.8 million through this format during his career.

This seems to be supported by the fact that he only appeared in a few World Series of Poker competitions in 2009 and failed to enter the $10,000 buy-in main feature after being shut out with a number of other late-comers on day 1D.

Despite this, Card Player noted that Antonius is to sit at the table for the NBC Heads Up Poker Championship, before taking some time out to recover from back strain and be with his family.
