Pantling leads EPT Copenhagen

2010-02-18 13:14:03

Online qualifier Andrew Pantling has emerged as the leader on day 1A of the Copenhagen leg of the European Poker Tour (EPT).

The event drew 191 competitors to Casino Copenhagen at the Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel, which is the only gambling establishment of this kind in the city.

Of the individuals who paid the 50,000 DKK ($9,100) entry fee, 113 remained including Annette Obrestad and Thomas Kabrhel.

However, it was Canadian Pantling who gained an early advantage over his fellow players, garnering 155,800 chips after the opening session.

Second-place Johnny Ostbjerg finished with 117,000, only a shade ahead of Christian Togsverd in third (116,100).

Pantling is no stranger to the European circuit having sat at the final table in both the Irish Open and the EPT London leg last year.

He netted over $200,000 for coming third in the Paddy Power Irish Open, which is the oldest Texas hold'em no-limit contest outside of the World Series of Poker.
