Benyamine crowned Premier League champion

2010-02-19 16:42:01

David Benyamine has emerged as the winner of this season's Premier League after besting a final table that included Phil Laak, Roland De Wolfe and Daniel Negreanu.

The French professional poker player defeated Luke 'Full Flush' Schwartz heads-up to take the crown and said he "feels really good" to have secured the title.

"I haven't really been around for a while and I hope this gives me momentum going forward!" he said. "I really enjoyed the format and competition - I'm sure it will make great TV."

Commenting on his performance, the card sharp stated that he did not make any flash moves and merely got the right cards when he needed them.

His opponent Schwartz admitted that he was disappointed to have lost, adding that he felt his play was the best of everyone's over the last week.

JC Tran, who was triumphant in the third instalment of the competition last year, failed to make the final table after being defeated by Negreanu in the play-offs.
