NAPT Las Vegas leg opens with charity event

2010-02-19 15:06:32

The newly-launched North American Poker Tour (NAPT) is to set wheels in motion with a charity event at the Venetian casino in Las Vegas on Friday (February 19th).

Entry to the event is $500, with competitors able to buy back in once eliminated, with all the proceeds going to local not-for-profit organisation Three Squares, which provides food for other bodies that support worthy causes, Cardplayer.com reports.

Well-known faces expected to show up at the tournament include Chris Moneymaker, Joe Cada, Vanessa Rousso and Daniel Negreanu.

Appearances are also predicted from celebrities such as Tony Hawk, Montel Williams and Christian Slater.

Despite being for charity, the event is likely to be exceedingly competitive, with the winner getting a full-prize package to play in next year's PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA).

The NAPT started in January at this year's PCA and will move onto the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut once the Las Vegas part of the tour has finished.
