Poker is completely different now, Negreanu says

Poker is a much altered game to what it was just five years ago, Daniel Negreanu has claimed.

According to the pro, who was writing for his Full Contact Poker blog, the level of skill that individuals now have is so much more advanced that older players are struggling to keep up.

He said that it is "like night and day" how much has changed, with fresh faces showing increasing skill post-flop.

Kid Poker added: "Playing tight and then waiting to make a play by coming over the top of someone just isn't good enough anymore."

Those who really want to improve their abilities at the table should watch Patrik Antonius, Phil Ivey and Tom 'Durrrr' Dwan, he explained, noting that he himself saw a vast boost in his performances after sitting with them in high-stakes matches.

Negreanu recently made it into the play-off stages of the Premier League after staging a late comeback to clinch the final heat.
