Online poker player 'unfazed' by transition to live events

2010-02-23 17:25:42

Experience of online poker has given one card sharp the confidence to go deep in live tournaments.

Andrew Lichtenberger, a 22-year-old from East Northport, New York, told PokerListings.com the number of hands he has played over the internet means he is well-versed in the game.

The player first attracted attention on the live scene when he finished 13th in the World Poker Tour Championship and he went on to come 18th in the 2009 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event.

And Lichtenberger believes the latter experience means he is unlikely to be fazed by future competitions.

"At this point now, with the Main Event and all the cameras there, nothing really compares, so anything else is just any other day playing poker for me," he remarked.

The Main Event of the 2009 WSOP was ultimately taken down by Joe Cada, who pocketed more than $8.5 million when he became its youngest-ever winner at the age of 21.
