Daniel Negreanu lauds LAPC structure

2010-02-26 10:29:36

Canadian card sharp Daniel Negreanu has praised the structure of this year's LA Poker Classic (LAPC) main event, claiming that it is the "world's best".

Kid Poker suggested in his Full Contact Poker blog that revered tournament director Matt Savage has done an outstanding job with planning the levels and antes for the $10,000 competition and told other people arranging card playing events to take note.

According to Negreanu, one particularly good feature of the LAPC finale, which was won last year by Cornell Cimpan, is that the ante is set at 200 for the 600-1,200 blinds level, instead of the usual 100.

"Yes, I am a structure nerd. Kudos to Matt Savage for getting it right," he commented.

In Negreanu's opinion, it is rare that poker tournaments have high quality structures. He stated that while the World Series of Poker runs its events correctly, almost every other competition gets it wrong.
