NAPT Venetian bounty event won by Ashton Griffin

2010-02-26 18:04:25

The new High-Roller Bounty Shootout tournament has come to an end at the North American Poker Tour (NAPT) Venetian.

Ashton Griffin took down the invitational event after coming through the field of 49 players to beat Hoyt Corkins in the heads-up.

Participants ponied up $25,000 to compete and knocking out a player awarded them a $5,000 bounty.

Seven tables of seven were narrowed down to create the final table and although Griffin pocketed the top prize money, Scott Seiver - who finished in fourth - earned himself $100,000 by virtue of claiming the most bounties.

Heads-up play itself lasted just two hands, with Griffin and Corkins both holding a pair of nines but the former's eight proving to be a better kicker.

Writing for the Sydney Morning Herald, card sharp Joe Hachem this week described the NAPT as a "valuable addition" to the poker schedule, having enjoyed the Las Vegas leg at the Venetian.
