Tom Marchese takes down NAPT Venetian main event

2010-02-26 16:41:37

Tom Marchese has taken down the North American Poker Tour (NAPT) Venetian main event.

The online professional came through a field of 872 players to pocket more than $827,000.

It means Marchese has earned more than $1 million in tournament play so far in 2010, despite never having cashed at a live event before last month.

Sam Stein went into the final table with the chip lead and held the position until ten minutes before the end, with Marchese gradually making ground before eventually doubling his stack in the heads-up and sealing the victory.

"The tide really turned in the space of about five hands where it all went well for me and fell apart for him," the 22-year-old winner remarked.

Next on the schedule for the first season of the NAPT is a tournament at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, where the $5,000 buy-in main event will take place from April 7th to 11th.
