Roland De Wolfe wins London Open 2010

2010-03-03 13:45:59

Roland De Wolfe has walked away with the London Open title this year after defeating 110 other players at Les Ambassadeurs Club in the capital.

He pocketed £77,700 ($115,000) for the privilege and received a standing ovation after completing the £220,000 tournament.

A two-day event, the competition saw local card sharps such as brothers Ross and Barny Boatman, James Vogl and Andy 'Greekfish' Andreou make an appearance.

Also in attendance was retired UK soccer player Teddy Sheringham, however it was De Wolfe who ended up with the prize, with a further eight players making it into the money.

Upcoming pro Vogl finished as the runner-up and earned £41,180 for his achievement.

De Wolfe has previous high-profile victories at both the World Series of Poker (WSOP) and the World Poker Tour.

In the former, he has secured a WSOP bracelet in the pot-limit Omaha hi-lo split-8 or better feature, for which he took home $246,616.
