Sudar claims first WSOP tournament win

2010-03-04 14:51:03

A Nebraska resident has clocked his first tournament win by landing the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit championship at Horseshoe Council Bluffs in Iowa.

Jovan Sudar, who was born in the former country of Yugoslavia, could have taken home the $95,455 first prize, but deals made earlier at the final table meant the spoils were split more evenly between the remaining competitors.

Despite his slightly reduced winnings, Sudan remained upbeat and noted he is just glad to have finally triumphed in an event after multiple cashes.

"I've been close so many times," he explained. "This thing is off my back now."

Commenting on his main strengths, the 27-year-old claimed he is excellent at reading other players and is able to lay down hands when he knows he is beaten.

According to Bluff Magazine, Sudar has pocketed over $125,000 in tournament earnings, including $27,315 for being the runner-up in last year's 2009 Five Diamond World Poker Classic.
