Duke: Winning Heads Up title is better than WSOP bracelet

2010-03-10 10:35:15

Annie Duke has stated that winning this year's National Heads Up Poker Championship ranks more highly in her estimations than the World Series of Poker Bracelet she won in 2004.

In an interview with Poker News Daily, Duke noted that it was a "really memorable experience" to play with close friend and fellow pro Erik Seidel in the finals.

"I feel like I'm standing with some pretty cool winners of this event, so I am pretty happy," she remarked, adding that her victory sees her in a select group, which includes Phil Hellmuth, Ted Forrest, Chris Ferguson and Paul Wasicka.

On her way to the finals, Duke defeated 2007 Heads Up champ Wasicka after besting his pocket aces with ace-ten.

She admitted that she was "horrified" to suck out by hitting a straight, which left her opponent crippled for chips.

Annie Duke is the sister of poker pro Howard Lederer, with the latter having accrued two WSOP bracelets over his long career.
