Women's World Open dates revealed

2010-03-10 15:24:03

The dates for the Women's World Open have been announced, with this year's event marking the fourth time the competition has been held.

Taking place in London, England the poker tournament will see 24 female entrants battle it out for the $72,000 (£48,300) prize pool on March 23rd and 24th.

Kara Scott, Annette Obrestad and Women's World Open III winner Aisling Collins are among the players who are confirmed to take part.

A spokesman for PartyPoker said that Collins and runner-up from last year Wooka Kim will both be considered favourites for a successful outing in 2010.

"We've made the stacks deeper and the competition is just as fierce," he remarked. "Last year, Aisling proved that Britain's got talent, but the same can be said about Japan in the form of Wooka Kim."

According to the representative, this year the format has been changed to allow entrants to exhibit their skill and provide railbirds with more entertainment.

Collins pocketed $50,000 for securing top spot in 2009, with second-placed Kim securing $20,000 for her efforts.
