Hellmuth leads Bay 101 tournament

After day two of action, Phil Hellmuth heads the pack in the World Poker Tour (WPT) Bay 101 Shooting Star event.Hellmuth, who is yet to win a WPT title despite making the final table on a number of occasions, finished the session on 550,000 chips, more than 50,000 ahead of nearest competitor Hasan Habib, Card Player reports.
The Poker Brat has cashed on the tour 11 times in its history, including making the televised show three times.
Of the 126 players who sat down to the table at the start of the second day, only 27 remain, with entrants now guaranteed a cash money prize once they are eliminated.
Pros who did not make it through to the third phase included Daniel Negreanu, Mike Sexton, Howard Lederer, JC Tran and Phil Laak.
Six-handed play will commence today (March 11th), until the final half-dozen competitors are decided, with multiple World Series of Poker bracelet winner Scotty Nguyen also still in the running.
