Brunson: I'm not ready for long tournaments yet

2010-03-16 15:53:50

Doyle Brunson has admitted that he is not quite ready to sit down at the table for longer tournaments yet.

Discussing his recent decision to drop out of the World Poker Tour (WPT) Bay 101 on his official blog, Texas Dolly said he probably doesn't have the stamina for this kind of event.

He remarked: "The hours are much longer and I'm not sure I'm ready for those 14 to 16-hour days."

According to the poker veteran, it is a shame he was unable to take part, as this particular venue in San Jose is a favourite of his.

"They even send a private jet for select players. I'll be ready next year!" he said.

Mclean Karr won the event, pocketing nearly $900,000 in prize money, after overcoming a final table containing Phil Hellmuth and Hasan Habib.

Hellmuth, who is yet to secure a WPT title, went out first on the recorded show after having led the tournament in day three.
