Hellmuth describes Premier League good behaviour

2010-03-22 17:21:17

Phil Hellmuth has claimed he behaved well after being relegated from this year's Premier League, despite finishing one place away from making the final eight.

Nicknamed the Poker Brat, Hellmuth wrote on his official blog that he kept his unpleasant persona in check following heads-up play with Daniel Negreanu.

"I shook Daniel's hand, had zero "Poker Brat" moments and then spent 12 hours in the commentary booth the next day," he remarked.

The 11-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner had needed to come first in the final heat of competition and even led when down to the last two.

However, he lamented the fact he lost a big hand when playing king-nine of diamonds and walked into Negreanu's pocket aces.

David Benyamine ended up clinching the title along with more than $450,000 prize money.

Last year's victor, JC Tran, was eliminated by Negreanu in the heads-up stages of the tournament.
