HSP series 6 ratings "up dramatically"

2010-03-29 15:46:09

The sixth series of High Stakes Poker (HSP) is drawing in record numbers of viewers, according to its broadcaster.

Game Show Network (GSN) said the televised high-stakes no-limit cash poker show is doing well across a number of key demographics.

An increase of 29 per cent has been seen in men aged between 25 and 54, while adults aged 18 to 49 also tuned in more, with a 27 per cent hike.

Vice-president of programming and development at the network David Schiff said the figures were due to the "especially strong player line-up" this year.

Poker professional and HSP regular Antonio Esfandiari said it is an honor to take part in such a prestigious offering.

He remarked: "Anyone who's a poker player wants to be on the show, but only a select few get lucky enough to be chosen."

In the first episode of this season, Phil Hellmuth was the first to walk away from the game after losing his buy-in.
