Social worker wins WSOP Circuit event

2010-03-30 14:10:18

A social work supervisor from Las Vegas has clinched a gold pendant at one of the World Series of Poker Circuit tournaments.

Susan Rhodes won the trinket - which is equal to the gold ring offered to all Circuit event victors - after securing the top spot in the Harrah's Rincon Ladies Poker Championship in California.

She has previously beaten the opposition in a number of other competitions including the Nevada Poker League, the Eureka Open and Card Player Cruises.

Ms Rhodes pocketed prize money totalling $5,993 for her first-place finish and she expressed gratitude to her mentors and friends.

"I have to give thanks to my best pals who were here with me," she added.

The $100 + $25 buy-in no-limit hold'em event attracted a field of 242 players this year, with the top 25 all taking home money.

Michael Kaplitz recently won a gold ring at another Hurrah Circuit offering, along with a cash sum of $29,433, after being persuaded by his wife to enter at the last minute.
