No more Poker Brat, Hellmuth promises

2010-04-07 14:57:21

Phil Hellmuth has claimed there will be no more temper tantrums at the poker table for him this year.

Known as the Poker Brat due to his infamous berating of other players when losing, the pro said on his official blog that he is looking to approach 2010 with a more positive attitude.

Describing the hand on which he went out of the recent World Poker Tour (WPT) Bay 101 Shooting Star tournament, Hellmuth noted he was gracious in defeat, despite feeling his opponent played the hand badly.

The 1989 World Series of Poker main event winner had pocket queens, while Andy Seth pushed all-in with ace-jack.

An ace on the river ended Hellmuth's chances of a first WPT crown, but he commented: "After 45 seconds I slowly rose up out of my chair and then I shook everyone's hand at the final table and I wished them good luck."
