Finance expert wins gold ring at WSOP Circuit event

2010-04-13 17:53:48

A financial expert from Virginia has beaten 230 competitors to win a World Series of Poker Circuit event at Harrah's casino in St Louis.

Richmond-based Doug Lovelace, a monetary advisor, took home $22,796 for triumphing, as well as a gold ring - given to all Circuit tournament victors.

Commenting on his first-place finish, the 40-year-old said his tactics are not the same as most people's, as he is not afraid to pay out lots of chips to see some flops.

"I play a little bit different than other players, but it worked well for me today," he remarked. "I feel great."

The $400 + $50 buy-in no-limit Texas hold'em event saw Lovelace defeat Christopher Cardenas heads-up, with the runner-up pocketing $13,939 for his troubles.

Another individual to win big on the Circuit recently is Matt Lawrence, who collected $36,115 for his win in a $500 + $50 buy-in feature at Harrah's.
