Poker style 'is indicative of financial behavior'

2010-04-19 12:23:43

A person's poker style could hold hints to how well they are able to handle their finances, it has been claimed.

Melodie Schaefer, executive director of the Chicago School of Professional Psychology Counseling Centers in Los Angeles, said different methods reveal an individual's habits.

She noted that people who tend to fiddle with their cards frequently often lack confidence in their ability to structure their monetary life and they could also be in denial about their money problems.

Alternatively, Ms Schaefer commented that players who take a single peek at what they have in the hole and then leave their hand on the table are able to act on their gut and are controlled with their cash.

Not surprisingly, she added, those with a gambling streak who tend to throw in bets when they have little chance of taking the pot are likely to run up large amounts of debt.

It could be bad news for Patrik Antonius, who recently admitted in a Card Player interview that he had a poor 2009 due to misjudged sports bets, despite accruing millions of dollars online.
