WPT World Championship attracts big names

The World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship is underway in Las Vegas at the Bellagio.A $25,000 buy-in event, Yevgeniy Timoshenko is trying to defend his title and after day one his is sitting in fourth place.
However, experienced poker pros Phil Ivey and David Benyamine are also in the top ten and ready to make their move.
Around 200 players are taking part in the tournament, which is rivaling the European Poker Tour San Remo event for competitors.
The WPT expects some big stars to take advantage of the late registration period, including Tom 'durrrr' Dwan and Phil Hellmuth, which means that people can enter until 17:00 local time on day two.
Shawn Buchanan is the current chip leader with 388,600, and he holds a healthy lead of nearly 100,000 over 2009 World Series of Poker bracelet winner Brian Lemke.
Another well-known card sharp who will be taking part in the contest is Daniel Negreanu, with the Canadian recently stating that he needs to improve his focus in the big games.
