Phil Hellmuth hosts charity tournament

2010-04-20 15:44:34

Phil Hellmuth gave up playing poker for one night to host a charity tournament.

Writing in his official blog, the Poker Brat noted that they raised over $50,000 during the event, which he personally hosted for over four hours.

The competition took place at the Claremont Hotel in Berkeley and included such local celebs as Jerry Rice, Tom Tolbert and JT Snow.

He added that he is "all about the poker" at the minute and intends on joining the World Poker Tour World Championship.

Hellmuth revealed that he will start playing at 18:00 local time when the blinds will be $200-$400, but he will still get £100,000 chips.

The eleven-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner will be hoping to get his hands on his first WPT title.

He recently remarked that he likes to keep things "smooth and easy" by winning risk-free chips when playing no limit hold'em in competitions.
