A 32-year-old banker scoops WSOP Circuit prize

2010-04-21 15:47:54

Robert Feathers has triumphed in his debut World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit event, the first of 18 competitions that will be held.

The 32-year-old part-time poker player bested 383 other individuals in the $200 (+$30) buy-in no-limit Hold'em tournament at Caesars Palace Las Vegas.

Although he works in a bank during the day, he has increasingly been spending more and more time playing the game at the weekends, regularly making trips to the city.

"I decided to take a few days off of my regular job and give the (WSOP) Circuit a shot, and here we are," Feathers said.

He beat Gift Kusuwan in heads up after the two started with an almost identical amount of chips, but it was Feathers who took home $17,884 for his troubles as well as a gold ring.

Jeff Roper recently triumphed on the WSOP Circuit as well, becoming the inaugural main event winner at Harrah's St Louis.
