Faraz Jaka looking to take WPT title

2010-04-22 12:34:03

Faraz Jaka is leading the World Poker Tour World Championship as play enters day five.

With 18 competitors left, everyone is guaranteed a minimum of $47,033, while the eventual winner will take home $1,530,537.

But there are a number of high-calibre players still left in the competition, including 11-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth and Scotty Nguyen, who could move up to second on the all-time money list if he triumphs.

Jaka, who has already finished second and third on the tour this year, will be hoping to seal the first place that has so far eluded him.

He finished the day with 3,117,000 chips, but it could have been much better, except he lost a chink to JJ Liu and Billy Baxter when they doubled up.

One player missing from the tournament is Doyle Brunson, after he revealed in his official blog that due to a previous speaking engagement he would not be able to make it.
