Howard Lederer makes Ivey $5 million WSOP bet

2010-04-23 17:03:44

Phil Ivey will be going into this year's World Series of Poker (WSOP) with added incentive to pick up a bracelet, as $5 million is riding on his ability to acquire a pair over the next two years.

Fellow professional Howard Lederer has made a bet with the man many consider to be the best in the world today, OnlinePoker.net reports.

Under the terms of the wager, Ivey will pick up the sum if he wins two bracelets over the course of the 2010 and 2011 WSOP tournaments.

He has seven titles to his name so far, becoming the youngest person to achieve this feat - at age 33 - when he took down a brace of events at last year's instalment.

And the portal noted that he is expected to enter 80 or more tournaments over the course of the bet "and although many of them will be well attended, others will be smaller more specialised tournaments where Ivey will have an even greater chance of winning".

Writing for his official blog, Phil Hellmuth recently observed that Ivey is a fan of living the high life and spending his millions.
