Poker professionals should not be allowed to wear sunglasses, according to one card sharp.

Daniel Negreanu, writing in his Full Contact Poker blog, noted they are bad for poker "on so many levels".

Kid Poker thinks they should be banned from all poker tournaments, whether televised or not.

He added: "I'm so happy when I see online guys like Tom Dwan, Patrik Antonius, and Phil Galfond man up by not hiding behind shades."

According to the Canadian, the majority of the best competitors in the world do not use them, citing the examples of Doyle Brunson and Phil Ivey.

He was commenting after the announcement that the Big Game is to prohibit the wearing of the accessory.

The four-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner remarked that it is imperative to uphold the integrity of the sport.

Negreanu recently failed to live up to a pledge made to European Poker Tour commentator James Hartigan, after he promised the man he would reach the final table at the Grand Final.
